Lead Environmental Artist

The Lead Environmental Artist will work closely with the Art Director and Project Leads from project inception to completion and will have a significant role in establishing and maintaining the look of the project. The Lead Environmental Artist reports to the Art Director.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage technical aspects of environmental production, including: high-res source geometry, shader creation, animated states, and collision meshes
  • Work in a highly collaborative manner with the Art Director, core team members, and other team leads to accomplish production and development goals
  • Work with fellow artists in creating an efficient and streamlined production pipeline.
  • Work with both art and design to meet projected deadlines/milestones.
  • Manage, mentor, and coach staff, including weekly meetings with all environmental team members.
  • Assist team in environment outsource initiatives if needed.
  • Model, texture, and polish interior and exterior architectural spaces and world objects based on conceptual artwork and written designs.

Experience and Skills

  • Expertise in 3D Studio Max and Photoshop or similar tools. Zbrush knowledge a strong plus.
  • Masterful skill in one or more of these areas: modeling, texturing, animation
  • 3+ years professional game development experience
  • Shipped one or more titles on PC or console
  • Experience developing original IP from conception to completion
  • Strong 3D modeling and texture mapping skills.

Education

  • A Bachelors Degree in Art, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent preferred, but not required
